Cornelius Animal Control working with Lake Norman Lucky Cats ...

Cornelius Animal Control (CAC) recently announced a partnership with the Lake Norman Lucky Cat Program to facilitate a humane technique to help reduce the number of unwanted cats and kittens in the town?s shelter.

?It is our hope that through this new partnership with CAC we can help even more residents with spay/neuter services to lower our numbers of unwanted cats in Cornelius,? said Abigail Jennings, president of the LNLCP. Cornelius Police Chief Bence Hoyle added, ?Working with Lucky Cats and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control to reduce cat populations by reducing the reproduction of feral cats is, by far, the less expensive, most productive, and the most humane way to deal with these populations. In order to have any significant impact on future feral cat populations, we have to start focusing upstream, and this program certainly does that.?

For more information on the Trap Neuter Release(TNR) program, please contact the LNLCP at (704) 877-7779 or visit www.LuckyCats.org. For neighborhoods with community cat problems, an educational program on TNR is available for HOAs interested in exploring this humane solution to feline overpopulation. A fundraiser to support this initiative is planned for October 13, 2011, in conjunction with National Feral Cat Day, at Alton?s restaurant in Jetton Village. For more information, contact the LNLCP.
