Three Kinds of People Who Won't Help Your Internet Marketing

Digital Marketing is the Future for Small Business Marketing

I have felt for quite some time that digital marketing is the best path for economical and prolific lead and customer generation for small businesses.? But it isn?t an easy path.? Marketing prior to the Internet was much more straight forward in how it was delivered.? Now there are multitudes of options and although it allows businesses to market effectively themselves, it is complex to sort out.

Messaging and value have always been aspects of marketing and the Internet gives small business owners the medium to spread their message and create and share value as never before.

But how do you sort through the options and craft a small business marketing program that will work for you and your business?? Many people will reach out to others for help.? There are three kinds of people / businesses that don?t know how to help you monetize your business value online.? It?s not that they don?t want to help or won?t try to help, they just have a partial view of the overall picture.

They will try to help, but they don?t know what they don?t know?

These three types of people are graphic designers, developers and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) specialists and they are the most commonly found people designing websites, which is often mistaken for the sole requirement for digital marketing.

Beware of fake experts!Too many times I?ve come across beautifully designed and developed websites that aren?t accomplishing anything for the business.? Their designers didn?t? understand SEO or how to rank a site in order to bring visitors nor did they comprehend how to structure the site to help convert visitors into customers.

It?s not only important to rank your site, but to rank for the right keywords?

On the other hand, many SEO ?experts? don?t understand how to rank for keywords that are pertinent to the business.? Many SEO gurus are best suited to select keywords for niches that are focused on selling affiliate products, but not as well prepared to help a regular business achieve its goals through Internet marketing.

None of these three types of people are typically capable of establishing the right ?Internet Presence,? which is essentially everything that you have on the Internet including website, blog and social media pages.? In concert, the components of your Internet Presence will help you create traffic to your sites, convert the traffic to customers, and help you measure the results throughout the process.

The true solution results from a blended approach with defined business objectives?

The best solutions for this blended approach are few and far between.? This is due to the fact that truly effective digital marketing requires a blend of skills from web site creation, traffic generation, typical marketing, sales, business skills, etc.? Most of these three types of people don?t actually understand the business objective and rarely know what that objective is.

Holistic Approach to MarketingI have to say that for a long time, I wasn?t 100% sure how to do this either!? I spent almost six years gathering information, experimenting with different techniques, learning from everybody I could find that would share information, etc. until I finally considered myself a bit of an expert in the field.

Only once I gained this expertise, was I able to recognize the value and genius of the Six Figure Mentors (SFM) and Digital Experts Academy that provides the tools and system that create an effective Internet Presence that results in business outcomes, namely attracting prospects, converting them to clients and measuring the process.

Because of this holistic approach, we no longer need graphic designers, SEO experts or developers.? The system and tools provided are sufficient to begin creating the desired business outcome ? more business!? While graphic designers and developers are still great to have around, we?re now able to ask them to focus on their true specialties instead of falsely believing that they are masters of all things Internet.

Within businesses, this means that we can use the SFM system, enhance it through graphic designers and involve the rest of the team from management, marketing, sales, finance, etc. to move the business down the desired path.? Now we?re getting somewhere?

Obama must remind Vladimir Putin of human rights, religious freedom concerns

This year has featured grim news of serious human rights restrictions imposed by Moscow on Russian society, including religious groups. At their next discussion, President Obama should convey these concerns to Vladimir Putin, reiterating to Russia?s president the need to adhere to universal human rights and religious freedom standards if relations are to progress between our two countries.

When I was in Moscow in late September as chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, I heard these worries voiced frequently. In my meetings with 30 individuals representing civil society, journalism, and human rights and religious freedom, all feared that Russia was on the cusp of a new cold war on civil society.

OPINION: Vladimir Putin's karate chop to Russian liberties

Since Mr. Putin?s return to the presidency, Russia has passed a succession of laws curtailing freedom of expression, association, and assembly. Parliament might even pass a proposed blasphemy law that clearly would violate freedom of religion or belief.

The new restrictions began in June 2012 when Putin signed a law which included a 100-fold increase ? more than the average Russian?s annual salary ? in fines for unauthorized protests.

In July, Putin signed legislation requiring foreign-funded nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) involved in ?political activity? to register as ?foreign agents? or face massive fines or two-year jail terms for their leaders. Essentially, this declares a group to be a highly suspicious outsider organization. Yet many of Russia?s most vital human rights NGOs rely on some outside financial support

Also in July, Russia?s parliament adopted laws increasing control over the Internet and re-criminalizing certain kinds of libel.

In November, Putin signed a treason law on the day he told the Presidential Human Rights Council that he might revise it. It broadens the definition of high treason to include acts against ?constitutional order, sovereignty, and territorial and state integrity,? potentially making participation in political protests and international organizations punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

All of this came on top of acts against pro-democratic US entities, such as closing the US Agency for International Development and denying certain radio frequencies to Radio Liberty.

Recently, Russia?s parliament began considering the criminalizing of blasphemy. A current bill would levy fines and penalties for ?offenses against religion and religious sentiment? and ?offending religious feelings of citizens.?

Those found to have engaged in ?public insults to the faith and humiliation during liturgical services? could be fined up to 300,000 rubles ($10,000), ordered to perform 200 hours of community service, or sentenced to three-year prison terms. For ?the desecration and destruction of religious objects, places of worship and pilgrimage,? penalties could include up to five years in jail. Putin has since called for postponing the bill?s consideration until next spring.

Supporters insist that religion, particularly Russian Orthodoxy, needs protection against critics who, they claim, seek to destabilize Russia by undermining its religious traditions. Yet a blasphemy law not only would violate the individual rights of freedom of religion and expression, but could exacerbate tensions by stifling the peaceful exchange of ideas and opinions.

Were the blasphemy bill to pass, Russians could bring suit against fellow citizens whom they allege have ?insulted their religious sentiments.? For instance, Russian Orthodox believers who view Apple?s logo as glorifying Adam and Eve?s original sin in the Bible also could prosecute Apple executives.

Russia already punishes people for ?hooliganism motivated by religious hatred.? Under this criminal category, two of the three women detained in the notorious Pussy Riot punk band case were handed two-year prison sentences for performing a ?punk prayer? in February at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Clearly, a blasphemy law could push Russia?s religious freedom conditions from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.

Even without this proposal, Russia maintains a blatant double standard on religious freedom. While favoring the Moscow patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, it targets Muslims and other groups. Its actions range from sweeping bans on Islamic materials to labeling religious minorities such as Mormons and Jehovah?s Witnesses ?totalitarian cults,? as well as discriminating systematically against Russia?s evangelical Protestant minority.

ANOTHER VIEW: Russia protests are overblown by West. Putin is here to stay.

Russia?s course unmistakably threatens democracy, but also stability, potentially pitting the Moscow patriarchate against Russia?s 25 million Muslim citizens. For the sake of both freedom and stability, it?s time to remind Russia?s president that, for the United States, human rights matter, and it's time to condemn this year's eclipse of those rights in Putin?s Russia.

Katrina Lantos Swett is Chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Five days after the tragic shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, President Obama said that he is committed to reducing the epidemic of gun violence that plagues this country every single day.

At a press conference in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room?at the White House, the President announced that Vice President Joe Biden will lead a new initiative that has been tasked with identifying concrete proposals for real reform by January. The Vice President, who wrote the 1994 Crime Bill that helped law enforcement bring down the rate of violent crime and included the assault weapons ban, will work with members of the Cabinet and outside organizations on this effort, and President Obama urged the new Congress to hold votes on the proposals early next year:

The good news is there?s already a growing consensus for us to build from.? A majority of Americans support banning the sale of military-style assault weapons.? A majority of Americans support banning the sale of high-capacity ammunition clips.? A majority of Americans support laws requiring background checks before all gun purchases, so that criminals can?t take advantage of legal loopholes to buy a gun from somebody who won?t take the responsibility of doing a background check at all.?

Samsung drops Apple injunction bids in Europe

Published: Dec 18, 2012 at 9:13 AM PST Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S III, right, and Apple's iPhone 4S are displayed at a mobile phone shop in Seoul, South Korea.LONDON (AP) - Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday it has withdrawn its requests to have sales of certain Apple products banned in Europe, though it is still pursuing lawsuits over technology licenses.

The two companies are waging a legal battle on multiple fronts and across the world as they jostle for dominance in the more than $100 billion global smartphone market.

On Monday, a judge in San Francisco rejected Apple Inc.'s demands that Samsung cease selling models which a jury recently found illegally used Apple technology. The ruling allows Samsung to continue selling three of the older-generation smartphones still on U.S. shelves.

In the European case, Samsung said it was withdrawing the injunction requests "in the interest of protecting consumer choice." It did not specify in what countries it was dropping the requests, but press reports mentioned Germany, France, Britain, Italy and the Netherlands.

While it dropped the sales ban request, Samsung is still suing Apple in Europe over the use of certain technology licenses.

"Samsung did not withdraw its lawsuits in Europe; the lawsuits are very much in place," said Samsung spokesman Kiyung Nam.

Internet Marketing Search Engine Optimization SEM SEO service ...

It is key to use good SEO techniques if you run a business website. By using these techniques, a business can improve its search ranking, so that its website is ranked more highly by the major search engines. Read further and we will share some valuable tips with you.

A domain name which contains your keywords can be a real boost to your efforts. You want to make your website easy to find when people are searching for it on the web. Not everyone will arrive at your site through ads, many will come from product searches.

Strategic keyword placement within your online content gets noticed by search engines that can boost your traffic. The best use of keywords is to place them early in the text without going overboard and loading too many instances of the same words. Ideally, your keyword should be featured twice in your first paragraph. After that, the next 200 words on your page should contain as many instances of your keyword as you can, without overwhelming the page with it.

If you want your site to automatically achieve higher search engine rankings, consider joining forces with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and the Chamber of Commerce in your area. Since these usually link to your site, it helps with local search results. Having a positive rating through the renowned Better Business Bureau can boost consumer trust in your business.

It is important that links in your website and incoming links all include keyword phrases. ? as your main anchor text. That?s the way to make your anchor text seem credible and relevant to the search engines. Be sure that the internal links on your site use the right keyword links.

Podcasts are an excellent way to deliver content. You can include both audio and video content in a podcast, just be sure it is content your users care about. It is easy to enter the podcast world; you only need a tape recorder. Be sure to include a description of your podcast so the search engines can index it.

You should publish and write fresh content as much as you can. Set weekly goals and keep the promise to yourself to publish a certain amount of content. Search engines judge sites with a fresh stream of content that is posted regularly as more valuable than those that only update the content occasionally. Consistently updated content equals higher page ranks.

Search engines will lower your page rankings if you are found to be manipulating the rating system to artificially achieve top search rankings. Search engine sites, like Google and Yahoo, have blacklisted some websites and removed them from their search results for trying to manipulate rankings. Be aware of the methods you use to optimize your search engine rankings.

Have the owner of the business actively involved in posting material on the website if applicable. This will give the site a more human touch. This is the company?s voice, and people will desire to hear it.

The language meta tag is crucial to your search ranking if your site is written in a language besides English. Doing so will improve your site rankings for queries in a different language.

If you are looking to climb up the search engine ranks, then provide a plethora of content, going across many different topics, but still staying within the niche. In other words, provide relative content from different aspects of your niche. If your topic is nutrition, provide articles on healthy recipes, wellness tips, vitamins and supplements, and more. By providing a wide array of articles centered around specific subjects, you increase the likelihood that your site will appear near the top of search results.

An HTML title will yield better SEO results, if you use keywords and phrases in them. When analyzing your site, search engines place heavier emphasis on keywords that are included in title tags. Placing the strongest keywords in the title tag maximizes your results and increases site traffic.

There?s a lot to search engine optimization, but as was stated earlier in the article, it?s absolutely essential to make sure your website gets the business it deserves. Make sure to apply these techniques to your website, as soon as possible, so that you can start getting more customers and more profits.

No NRA tweets or comments: A savvy tactic or mistake?

In an unusual move, the NRA has gone silent on the Newtown, Conn. shooting. The National Rifle Association has taken down its Facebook page too. As the gun control debate heats up, is the NRA being tactically savvy?

?The largest U.S. gun-rights organization ? typically outspoken, even after shooting deaths ? has gone all but silent since last week's rampage at a Connecticut school left 26 people dead, including 20 children.

The National Rifle Association's Facebook page has disappeared. The NRA has posted no tweets. It makes no mention of the shooting on its website. None of its leaders hit the media circuit Sunday to promote its support of the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment right to bear arms as the nation mourns the latest mass shooting victims and opens a new debate over gun restrictions. On Monday, the NRA offered no rebuttal as 300 anti-gun protesters marched to its Capitol Hill office.

After previous mass shootings, the group was quick to both send its condolences and defend gun owners' constitutional rights, popular among millions of Americans. There's no indication that the NRA's silence this time is a signal that a change in its ardent opposition to gun restrictions is imminent.

There has been no explanation for its absence from the debate thus far.

The NRA, which claims 4.3 million members, did not return telephone messages Monday seeking comment.

Its well-funded efforts to oppose gun control laws have proven resilient. Firearms are in a third or more of U.S. households, and suspicion runs deep of an overbearing government whenever it proposes expanding federal authority. The argument of gun-rights advocates that firearm ownership is a bedrock freedom as well as a necessary option for self-defense has proved persuasive enough to dampen political enthusiasm for substantial change.

The NRA's reach is wide as it spends millions to defeat lawmakers, many of them Democrats, who push for restrictions on gun ownership.

The NRA outspent its chief opponent by a 73-1 margin to lobby the outgoing Congress, according to the nonpartisan Sunlight Foundation, which tracks such spending. It spent more than 4,000 times its biggest opponents during the 2012 election.

In all, the group spent at least $24 million this election cycle ? $16.8 million through its political action committee and nearly $7.5 million through its affiliated Institute for Legislative Action. Its chief foil, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, spent just $5,816.

On direct lobbying, the NRA also was far ahead. Through July 1, the NRA spent $4.4 million to lobby Congress to the Brady Campaign's $60,000

Seldom has the NRA gone so long after a fatal shooting without a public presence. It resumed tweeting just one day after a gunman killed two people and then himself at an Oregon shopping mall early last week, and one day after six people were fatally shot at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin in August.

"The NRA's probably doing a good thing by laying low," said Hogan Gidley, a Republican strategist and gun owner. "Often after these tragedies, so many look to lay blame on someone, and the NRA is an easy whipping boy for this."

Indeed, since the Connecticut shootings, the NRA has been taunted and criticized at length, vitriol that may have prompted the shuttering of its Facebook page just a day after the association boasted about reaching 1.7 million supporters on the social media network.

Twitter users have been relentless, protesting the organization with hashtags like NoWayNRA.

The NRA has not responded. Its last tweets, sent Friday, offered a chance to win an auto flashlight.

Offline, some 300 protesters gathered outside the NRA's lobbying headquarters on Capitol Hill on Monday chanting, "Shame on the NRA" and waving signs declaring "Kill the 2nd Amendment, Not Children" and "Protect Children, Not Guns."

"I had to be here," said Gayle Fleming, 65, saying she was attending her first anti-gun rally. "These were 20 babies. I will be at every rally, will sign every letter, call every congressman going forward."

Retired attorney Kathleen Buffon reflected on earlier mass shootings, saying: "All of the other ones, they've been terrible. This is the last straw. These were children."

"The NRA has had a stranglehold on Congress," she added as she marched toward the NRA's unmarked office. "It's time to call them out."

Better jobless rate hurts jobless and economy

11 hrs.

Elizabeth Waldrop lost her medical management job nearly two years ago in a personnel shuffle. The 47-year-old Chicagoan had been receiving unemployment benefits, getting some financial support from her boyfriend and looking for work.

But the benefits ran out in October and that brought on what she called one of the toughest times of her life.

"Facing the end of my benefits felt like I was jumping off a cliff without a parachute," said Waldrop, who recently moved to Colorado to start her own interior design business after selling her personal possessions and using what little money she had left.

"I just figured it was better to try and do something I loved than have those personal things," said Waldrop. "And I didn't have much choice."

Waldrop is part of an ongoing paradox when it comes to the nation's unemployment picture. As the jobless rate inches down ever so slowly ? and more people find work ? they're actually hurting the people still without jobs.

That's because under seemingly contrary rules, states can only offer extended unemployment benefits if their jobless rate goes up year after year. States like California, Rhode Island, Nevada and Waldrop's Illinois still have high unemployment rates, but they have remained steady the past three years, and extended benefits for people in those states ended this summer.

While the federal government doesn't officially track what happens to people who have lost their benefits, the Government Accountability Office estimates that some 5.5 million workers have exhausted their state and federal unemployment benefits from 2007 to 2011. In 2012 alone, more than 500,000 people?some 100,000 in California?have also been estimated to have maxed out their benefits.

With the average benefit check is only around $300 a week?and benefits have run up to 99 weeks?the fact that so many people are no longer getting them hurts the overall economy, say analysts.

"The best evidence is that unemployment benefits affect the economy," said Gregory Price, professor of economics at Morehouse College. "For each dollar spent on benefits, they carry more than another dollar in spending. If you cut those things back, it can hurt economic growth."

Those who have exhausted their benefits have few options. These include government job training and placement programs and the ability to buy health insurance ? the COBRA program. But without a paycheck or unemployment funds, something like COBRA ? which costs $400 a month for an individual ? is out of reach for most of the jobless, say analysts.

"One of the hidden aspects of this is the pressure on Medicaid," said Farrokh Hormozi, an economist and professor at Pace University. "People are going to get sick and because of that, without any health insurance, it puts more pressure on social networks like Medicaid."

"Many people have to max out their savings or depend on relatives and friends to help them out," said Chad Stone, chief economist at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. "And more have to turn to federal programs like food stamps to survive. It's not a pretty picture."

The picture could get worse in the battle over the "fiscal cliff." Without a deal, all federal extended unemployment benefits are scheduled to end on Dec. 31, cutting off an estimated 2 million people. A million others could see their benefits disappear by April.?

According to a Congressional Budget Office report, extending the benefits?at a cost of some $30 billion to the government?would lead employers to create 300,000 new jobs from the spending and improve the gross domestic product by some 0.2 percent.

Besides providing the out of work with basic funds, the benefits offer some reason for getting up in the morning, said one analyst.

"People are definitely at risk if they lost their benefits of becoming discouraged from looking for work," said Jason Bent, an employment law expert at Stetson University College of Law. "There's some argument that unemployment benefits keep people from getting jobs or looking for work. But unemployment does not take care of people. It's just really designed to be a transition. And most people are looking for work. "

The only solution is more jobs, said Price.

"We have to hope the job picture gets better in the near future," Price said. "This labor pull back is the worst since World War II. We have to hope it improves."

For Waldrop, hoping was no longer an option.

"I had 20 years of experience in big pharma and medical management, but my getting let go turned me off to corporate America," said Waldrop. "I moved to Colorado to take my father's advice: Follow your creativity and create your own job."
