Beyonce And Jay-Z Didn't Pay $1 Million For Hospital Floor1676979

New York's Lenox Hill Hospital releases a statement denying reports that the couple rented an entire maternity floor.

Despite the many rumors about the lengths Beyoncé and Jay-Z went to for security and secrecy around the birth of daughter Blue Ivy Carter, New York hospital Lenox Hill says the superstar couple was treated with just as much care as all their patients. In a statement released Monday (January 9), hospital spokesman Frank Danza said he was "troubled by the misinformation being circulated in some news media reports" and denied the rumor that Bey and Jay paid more than $1 million to rent a floor of the hospital for the birth. "The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations," Danza said in the statement. "Our executive suites are available for any patient, including the food service and amenities provided to the Carter family."

Speaking to the concerns over beefed-up security and whether the celebrity baby disturbed other patients, Danza insisted that although Beyoncé and Jay-Z had personal bodyguards, the hospital maintained control over the situation. "We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days. No security plan that we or the Carters' security team put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit," Danza continued in the statement. "Lenox Hill Hospital takes patient privacy and safety very seriously. And while we congratulate the Carter family on the birth of their child, we value the loyalty of ALL our patients and always strive to ensure a positive experience, knowing that the birth of a child is a wonderful moment producing memories of a lifetime." While the baby was reportedly born late Saturday night, the couple just released an official birth announcement Monday. "Hello Hello Baby Blue," the Carters said in a statement to MTV News. "We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives."

Dog owners get second shot in 'I Cloned My Pet'

TLC

Danielle hopes to get a perfect copy of her beloved pet Trouble on "I Cloned My Pet."

By Ree Hines

Saying goodbye to a beloved furry friend isn't easy, but some former dog owners hope to ease the pain by saying hello to their friend again -- sort of.

In a new, one-hour special called "I Cloned My Pet," TLC takes a closer look at those willing to take a pricy plunge for a second chance with their long-lost pal, or more accurately, a first chance with a dog that looks and acts like their late pal.

A sneak peek from the show gives viewers an early look at Danielle, who's love of her dearly departed dog, Trouble, has led her to look into cloning.

"I usually come in this room and I say, 'Hi Trouble! Hi, Trouble boy. How are you?'" she said as she walked up to a full-wall mural of her pet. "He came first before anybody. He came first before my husband. He came first before my parents. Nobody else matters. He was like the child that I never had, and I probably did treat him better than people treat their children."

Trouble died three years ago, but no one would guess that by looking around Danielle's home. She's kept everything he touched. Everything.

"I have a piece of chicken that I've had in here for three years," she said as she pulled Trouble's foil-covered last supper out of the freezer. "Trouble was hand-fed, like a child. Yeah, like a mother would breastfeed their child or hand feed their child -- that was Trouble."

In the fridge, Danielle keeps a bottle containing his last bowl of water, too.

"The water really, really means a lot to me because it was the last thing that Trouble got to drink," she explained. "His mouth was in there. That's why I actually saved it."

Find out if Danielle's efforts to clone Trouble are successful when "I Cloned My Pet" airs Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on TLC.

Katy Perry Cancels First Post-Divorce Appearance

Just days after Katy Perry broke her silence for the first time since news of her split from husband Russell Brand, the singer has announced she'll no longer be attending the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards," she tweeted on Monday (January 9) about her previously scheduled appearance. "I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS." The singer is up for seven awards at the show, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Song of the Year for her Kanye West-assisted "E.T."

A week after Brand filed for divorce from his pop-star wife of 14 months, Perry used the social-networking site to thank her fans for sticking by her during this trying personal time — without directly confirming the split. "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world," she wrote. "You guys have made my heart happy again."

In another tweet, she addressed the tabloid chatter that has been swirling since news of the split hit the Web on December 30. "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me," she said, "Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family."

Perry's still scheduled to make two appearances on her California Dreams Tour later this month, one on January 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and another on January 22 in the Philippines, according to her website. With the PCA appearance canceled, Perry's next awards-show appearance could take place February 12 at the Grammys, where she's up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Firework."

What do you think of Katy canceling her appearance at the awards show? Tell us in the comments.

CES 2012: Intel Expects Ultrabook, Ultralight Barrage to Battle Apple

Intel, the world's largest semiconductor maker, will send its biggest gun, CEO Paul Otellini, to the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Tuesday night, where he is to deliver a keynote address.

Before that, several more of the Santa Clara, Calif.-based chipmaker's customers are expected to announce new slim, lightweight laptops based on either the new Ultrabook chip that went into mass production last quarter, or the older i5 core processor that preceded it a year earlier.

On Monday, Hewlett-Packard, the world's biggest PC maker, introduced its Envy 14 Spectre, a 14-inch ultralight laptop with the Ultrabook chip. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics showed its new Series 9 laptop, with a 13-inch or 15-Inch screen, based on the older Intel model.

Earlier, two more customers, Asus of Taiwan and Lenovo Group of China both announced new Ultrabook laptops. More are expected to be unveiled as the CES opens officially Tuesday from vendors such as Dell, the No. 2 U.S. maker; Acer of Taiwan; Toshiba, Sony and NEC of Japan.

In a keynote address to the CES on Monday night, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer hailed the new Ultrabooks as a means of making computing more affordable and user friendly for consumers.

All of Intel's customers are seeking to copy some of the success rival Apple has had with its Macbook Air ultralightweight portable chips which are usually priced higher than Intel-based machines.

Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., refrains from participating in the CES. Instead, it holds its own MacWorld expositions in San Francisco where top executives showcase products and meet with developers.

Intel shares closed Monday at $25.47, up 22 cents, not far below their 52-week high of $25.78

Obama?s cousin: President shouldn?t ?destroy our country? [VIDEO]

According to the latest Rasmussen presidential tracking poll, 53 percent of American voters say they at least somewhat disapprove of President Obama?s job performance. And you can count Obama?s cousin,?Milton R. Wolf, among them.

In a video Wolf made exclusively for The Daily Caller,?the board-certified diagnostic radiologist and medical director waxes about the president?s recent boast that he led the charge to provide Americans with a two-month, year-end extension of former President George W. Bush?s payroll tax cuts. Obama bragged in December speeches that he had delivered, on average, a $40 tax cut for every working American.

Big whoop, Wolf says.

?Forty dollars ? is enough money to tip your beach waiter serving you pi?a?coladas ? at least on one of the 17 days of your Hawaiian vacation.?Forty dollars can buy at least one phony ACORN signature on an Indiana primary petition.

?Forty?dollars can buy the entire DVD boxed set of Rev. Jeremiah Wright?s sermons ? just in case you?ve missed any over the last 20 years.?Forty?dollars can buy a couple cartons of cigarettes for your Chicago friends, Blago and Rezko. They may come in handy where they?re going.?

Watch:

?No president,? Wolf states, ?should destroy our country with socialized medicine, bank bailouts and a failed trillion-dollar shovel-ready stimulus.?

?He should stop bowing to foreign leaders. It just makes America look weak. Plus,? he jokes, ?it draws attention to his skinny legs.?

Rick Perry: I would send troops back to Iraq

Except for one or two questions Perry was virtually ignored in this ?debate?. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the time each candidate received. I think Mitt?s share would be well over 50%.

When Mitt was giving another of his very long-winded answers my hubby said, ?What happened to the time clock? Did they just throw it out??

NCAA underground cable connects to national grid

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area becomes the first National Park in the country to be fully connected to the National grid through the just accomplished 3.8 billion/- electric project.

?It was an ambitious undertaking involving over 20 kilometres of underground cabling to form the main power backbone inside the Conservation Area Authority,? said Mr Maurus Ngairo, the chief electrician at the NCAA.

The Electricity expert explained that the wiring had to be done underground so as not to disturb the ecology of the area and preserve the natural environment in the conservation area which is endowed with rich flora and fauna.

?You cannot have electric posts running about the park because for one thing, elephants will either break or uproot them in no time and if live wires lay about the ground they may cause danger to wildlife and humans alike,? said Mr Ngairo.

The underground cables done with aluminum as opposed to the usual copper wiring, has managed to stealthily power up the remote park without disturbing the natural appearance of the NCAA through setting up of unsightly infrastructures.

It may have been an expensive project but according to Ngairo, it is paying dividends. ?Previously we used to rely on KVA 800-1000 generators to power up our premises and that cost 120 million/- per month because the giant power sources consumes 190 liters of diesel per hour,? said the expert.

However using the grid power, the NCAA now spends just 42million/- per month, which means the conservation management is now saving nearly 80 million every month. The power backbone in the park has also allowed connection points for other potential users to connect their premises into the grid and tap power, instead of using their generators whose noisy outputs disturb animals.

So far the NCAA management targets to connect all tourist hotels and lodges operating inside the park, who as far as the expert is concerned, they also stand to save a lot of money from their overhead costs. Soon to be connected with the grid includes the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge, Sopa Lodge, Wildlife Lodge, ?And-Beyond? and Serena, as well as staff houses for the NCAA and the said hotels.
